Stop Complaining

Stop Complaining

Stop Complaining

Stop complaining about everything and be thankful.”  I don’t know about you, but I find myself saying “stop complaining” a lot when speaking to my children. I’m not sure where they learned how to complain so much….Sigh!  Reality Check –  Gulp! Me! Gulp again!
We live in a time where it’s totally acceptable to complain about everything and we want our voices heard no matter how much damage we may cause to others. We are raising a new generation of little  “Give it to me now or I’ll just complain till you give me what I want” generation. Gulp!

  • My coffee is too________(fill in the blank)
  • My child’s teacher is _____________ (fill in the blank)
  • My commute is too long
  • My nanny didn’t put away the dishes.
  • My dry cleaning is not ready on time
  • Just fill in the blank ________________

Are you guilty? What can we do about it, so we don’t pass our bad habits down to our children?  Model kindness.  Be thankful.  Have gratitude.

  • Yes, my coffee is too hot, but I am thankful for the convenience of a coffee shop.
  • My child’s teacher is _______, but I’m thankful my child has the freedom to attend school.
  • My commute is too long and traffic is exhausting, but I am thankful for a job.
  • My nanny didn’t put up the dishes away, but I’m thankful I can afford a wonderful nanny. My kids had a great day and that is all that really matters to me.

How do you demonstrate kindness and gratitude toward others today?

How will you lead your children?

What can you be thankful for today (read the list below written by our Placement Coordinator)?

Coffee, the laughter and hugs of my children, fresh air, the beautiful reds and yellows of the changing leaves, the love of friends and family, a good book, a cozy fire, fire pits with friends, football games, stories of strangers who do good things, yummy food….And the list goes on. You get the point.

We have the opportunity each day to consciously and intentionally set a tone of thankfulness for the big and little wonderful parts of life. We can daily demonstrate for the little children watching us what it looks li

ke to choose the positive and to focus on the good things.
