Saying Yes To Your Household Nanny, Housekeeper or Household Manager

Saying Yes To Your Household Nanny, Housekeeper or Household Manager

Do you say ” Yes” when you really mean “No” to your spouse, children, boss, co-workers, and even your nanny just so you can avoid confrontation with them.

Did your nanny just ask you for a raise?  Did your nanny ask for more paid time-off on days that you need her to be working?  Do you feel like no-one seems to respect or much less care about  your precious time during the day?

The next time, you decide to say “Yes” remember to ask yourself these three simple questions:

  1. What is in it for me?
  2. Do I honestly have the time, money, and energy to do it?
  3. Will I regret doing this later?

If you feel a true tug of emotions, then pull back and tell the person that you need more time to think about it. Let them know that you will get back to them within one day.  This will give you plenty of “thinking” time to truly analyze why you might feel pressured to say “yes” when you really mean “no”.
